About The Position

Prince William County Public Works, Solid Waste Division, is seeking a full-time Scalehouse Weighmaster/Fiscal Technician to join their team. This role involves providing exceptional customer service at the County’s Landfill or Compost Facility in Manassas, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least two years of full-time experience in cash handling and front-line customer service. This position offers the opportunity to work in a team-oriented environment while supporting the County’s solid waste operations and interacting directly with customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Must be able to obtain Weighmaster Certification within (1) year of employment
  • Successfully passing a pre-employment background check
  • Successfully passing a pre-employment credit check

Nice To Haves

  • WeighMaster Certified
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience with direct cash handling and computer-based data entry
  • A minimum of 2 years of front-line customer service experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Operate computerized weighing systems
  • Assess incoming loads
  • Process payments
  • Provide excellent customer service to commercial and public customers
  • Work independently and assist with daily operations
  • Serve as a resource to the scalehouse staff when needed
  • Provide information to the public
  • Ensure compliance with County solid waste regulations
  • Assess and collect fees accurately and efficiently using basic math skills and proper cash-handling procedures
  • Perform accurate data entry using the scale software system
  • Respond to customer complaints and concerns in a professional and courteous manner
  • Reconcile receipts at the end of each shift
  • Prepare deposits and other documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, including the ability to remain composed and tactful when interacting with difficult people or situations
  • Maintain professional relationships with co-workers
  • Adhere to established rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Clearly communicate requirements to the public
  • Respond to emergencies, inclement weather, and other issues that may impact facility operations outside of regular working hours, including on holidays and weekends
