About The Position
The Prince William County Public Works, Solid Waste Division is seeking to hire a full-time Scalehouse Operator/Fiscal Assistant to join our team in providing excellent customer service at the County’s Landfill or Compost Facility in Manassas, Virginia. This position works with a team of other employees responsible for operating all functions of the scalehouse, including data management software and computerized vehicle scales. The Scalehouse Operator is typically the first point of contact for customers using the County’s Landfill or Compost Facility.
Requirements
- An 8th-grade education is required.
- No prior work experience is necessary for this role.
Nice To Haves
- A high school diploma is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience with direct cash handling and computer-based data entry is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of front-line customer service experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assess and collect fees accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced operational environment using basic math skills and knowledge of proper cash handling procedures
- Perform accurate data entry into the scale software system
- Reconcile receipts at the end of each shift
- Prepare deposits and other documentation in accordance with policies and procedures
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, including the ability to maintain composure and tact when faced with difficult people or situations
- Adhere to established rules, regulations, and procedures and clearly communicate requirements to the public
