To learn more, please visit our website at www.huberwood.com. Position Summary This role ensures all incoming wood receipts meet quality and adherence to written wood specifications. The attendant completes scale tickets for all incoming raw wood products and outgoing finished panel and residue wood products. They help resolve issues as they arise with the shipment of finished products. This position is responsible for all truck activity and all other vehicular traffic in and out of the mill site as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Attention to detail is required at all times to complete accurate scaling and proper record keeping.
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends and holidays when requested.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Wood Procurement Manager regarding wood quality specifications and purchasing plans.
  • Work with Shipping and Finance regarding finished product shipments and wood receipt payments.
  • Coordinates usage procedures with Wood Procurement Manager, and Foresters to insure proper inventory rotation.
  • Perform visual quality assessment inspections of all delivered wood according to specifications and periodically perform physical quality assessment inspections.
  • Periodically perform random audits inspecting wood quality.
  • Identification of culls and defects in raw materials.
  • Identification of various soft and hard wood species.
  • Initiates corrective measures required of the delivering supplier according to procurement program.
  • Completes all scale tickets including wood, board, and miscellaneous; and all other reports and paperwork as necessary or directed.
  • Weighs all truck deliveries coming in and going out of mill.
  • Assists in maintaining an accurate record of current inventory levels, storage locations, and ages of inventory.
  • Use software system to assist with proper shipments and delivery locations for flatbeds.
  • Checks to verify that incoming flatbed trucks have current valid Huber numbers and valid customer purchase order numbers.
  • May have to coordinate load problems and questions with Shipping.
  • Checks to ensure that all common carrier loads are tarped and secured and within legal weight limits.
  • Maintains proper woodyard truck traffic flow and supports/aids short turn-around times.
  • Responsible for all visitors coming onsite to be made aware of and compliant with safety and management system requirements, which includes PPE and fall arrest systems.
  • Notify the proper department when in-bound vehicles require assistance with reverse signaling.
  • Responsible for all vehicular traffic in and out of the mill site during scale hours with the exception of Huber employees, preferred vendors, and those with identification numbers.
  • Have all visitors identify themselves, state their business, and sign-in the logbook or equivalent application.
  • Call the administration building and instruct the visitor where to go.
  • Ensure all visitors sign out on their exit from the mill site.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
