About The Position
Techstaff has an immediate assignment available for a customer service-oriented employee to work as a Scalehouse Specialist at the City of Tampa McKay Bay Scalehouse. The specialist is responsible for vehicle weighing, waste acceptability checks, financial transactions, customer service, and related operations at a municipal scalehouse, transfer stations, and waste‐to‐energy facility. This temporary assignment is expected to carry into next summer.
Requirements
- Credit Card Transaction and customer service experience
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
Responsibilities
- Operate a computerized municipal refuse scale to determine waste weight and assess charges
- Verify refuse compliance with operating rules and regulations
- Perform cashiering tasks, including counting cash receipts, balancing accounts, and preparing financial/operating reports.
- Maintain filing systems for disposal tickets and perform data entry into the online MSS system
- Provide customer service in person, by phone, and other communication methods
- Perform minor office equipment maintenance
- Communicate via radio with department staff and contractors
- Manually write scale tickets if the automated system is down
- Secure facility and equipment at end of shift
