About The Position

The Scaffold Shop Foreman (Working Foreman) is responsible for supervising and actively participating in the daily operations of the scaffold yard and shop. This position provides hands-on leadership while performing shop, warehouse, inventory, and material handling functions alongside assigned personnel. The Scaffold Shop Foreman ensures scaffold materials are inspected, maintained, repaired, organized, loaded, and distributed efficiently to support field operations while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of scaffold experience preferred.
Previous leadership experience in a scaffold yard, warehouse, shop, or industrial environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of scaffold systems, components, material requirements, and inventory management practices.
Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, and other material-handling equipment preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety requirements.
Ability to effectively supervise personnel while performing hands-on work.
Must be able to obtain and maintain all required certifications and site-specific training.
Extensive knowledge of scaffold components, materials, and scaffold systems, including frame, tube and clamp, and system scaffolding; knowledge of scaffold yard operations, inventory control procedures, material management practices, OSHA regulations, fall protection requirements, and industrial safety standards. Familiarity with warehouse operations, shipping and receiving processes, material staging, logistics coordination, equipment tracking, and industrial construction, maintenance, and turnaround environments.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and team management skills with the ability to effectively supervise personnel while actively participating in daily shop operations. Skilled in inventory management, material tracking, scaffold component inspection, equipment utilization, recordkeeping, and coordination of material deliveries and project support activities.
Ability to safely operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other material-handling equipment; identify damaged or defective scaffold components; maintain accurate inventory and equipment records; and ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.
Ability to function as a hands-on working foreman by leading through example and performing the same physical tasks required of shop personnel while maintaining supervisory responsibilities.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and direct daily scaffold shop and yard operations with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to train, mentor, develop, and evaluate employees while fostering teamwork, accountability, productivity, and a strong safety culture.
Ability to analyze operational needs, solve problems, make sound decisions, and adapt to changing priorities and business demands.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, project managers, vendors, customers, and field personnel.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.
Ability to work safely and effectively under pressure while meeting project deadlines, operational objectives, and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

Serve as a hands-on working foreman by performing daily scaffold shop and yard duties while supervising assigned personnel.
Lead, direct, and support scaffold shop employees in daily material handling, inventory, maintenance, and staging activities.
Coordinate the receiving, inspection, storage, staging, and distribution of scaffold materials and equipment.
Inspect scaffold components for damage, defects, and serviceability and remove non-compliant materials from service.
Assist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and containers for project mobilizations and demobilizations.
Perform scaffold component repair, cleaning, sorting, and maintenance activities as required.
Maintain accurate inventory records and track scaffold materials, equipment, and asset utilization.
Coordinate material deliveries and project support activities with field foremen, superintendents, and project management.
Operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other material-handling equipment as required.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate material shortages or procurement needs.
Ensure scaffold materials are properly organized, stored, and secured to maximize efficiency and prevent loss.
Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and shop inspections.
Train, mentor, and develop scaffold yard personnel while promoting safe work practices.
Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory counts, equipment inspections, repairs, and material transfers.
Enforce company safety policies, operational procedures, and quality standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational and project needs.
