SAIC is looking for an Engineering Technician V to support CAC2S-Afloat systems and in Bedford, IN. The Engineering Technician V performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. They select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contact personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, and review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others. A supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. The technician designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results. They calculate design data and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. They may check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design. The role involves planning or assisting in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance, determining test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducting tests using all types of instruments; analyzing and evaluating test results and preparing reports on findings and recommendations.
