About The Position

SAIC is looking for a Drafter/CAD Operator. This position will provide drafting and documentation support for NSWC Crane code GXT. In this role you will support a team creating/updating Technical Data Packages using AutoCad CAD Software. An architectural background is preferred with knowledge of using AutoCad with view-ports using the model tab, layout tab, scaling and layers. The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and be able to complete professional correspondence.

Requirements

• AS or BS Degree in related field; Or, High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
• Experienced with AutoCAD
• Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge and aptitude with understanding of currently accepted manufacturing processes and ISO procedures
• Understand Architectural Layouts and procedures
• Must be detail oriented and able to communicate complex ideas
• Ability to quickly complete tasking independently and as a team member, with detailed or general instruction

Nice To Haves

• Architectural background preferred
• Knowledge of using AutoCad with view-ports using the model tab, layout tab, scaling and layers
• Knowledge of ASME-Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000 an associated Drawing Standards, Technical Data Packages, and Military Standards.

Responsibilities

• Creates and modifies detailed drawings using AutoCAD CAD Software
• Works closely with the Customer, Engineers, Technicians and other CAD Operators to capture design
• Works independently as well as in a collective team effort to effect changes to design and/or documentation
• Performs a variety of moderate and complex tasks and have the ability to use a variety of tools to include, but not limited to, Calipers, Gauges, Tape Measure, Ruler and other mechanical devices to aid in design development and verification/validation of first article pieces
