About The Position

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) to Parsons in April 2023. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.8+ billion contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) and certain reimbursable programs, the FAA NextGen Program, national security programs and aviation safety. Specifically, work includes site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, drafting, contract surveillance, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions 1. Alaska, 2 Kansas City MO, 3. New York NY, 4 Chicago IL, 5 New England, 6. Seattle WA, 7. Atlanta GA, 8. Fort Worth TX, 9. El Segundo CA, as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work. T5 represents the 3rd iteration of the Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC) Parsons has won. Parsons won T4 & T3. The Drafter II prepares various drawings, computer models, assemblies, sectional profiles and various views for construction projects. Work requires knowledge/use of drafting standards, Computer Aided Engineering Graphics (CAEG) techniques and a working knowledge of CAEG terms and procedures. The Drafter II makes arithmetic computations using standard formulas. Simple revisions to complex drawings may be assigned with redline markups/comments, images, and verbal direction to create the desired results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required.
  • 4 years of CAEG experience (minimum).
  • Good oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • A security background check by the Federal Aviation Administration is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or higher preferred.
  • 3 years of CAEG experience (minimum) with degree.
  • Knowledge/use of drafting standards.
  • Knowledge/use of Computer Aided Engineering Graphics (CAEG) techniques.
  • Working knowledge of CAEG terms and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares various drawings (plan, elevation, profile views, details and notes) for construction projects.
  • Processes redlined construction drawings for as-built conditions and various other duties as assigned.
  • Incorporates engineer’s markups.
  • Works independently with minimum supervision.
  • Interprets and incorporates client’s CAEG standards.
  • Accepts assignments from CAEG Manager/Supervisor or assigned lead.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Performs a QC review on completed assignments to reduce errors.
