Gilbane is seeking a SCA Architect to serve as the School Construction Authority's on-site representative, overseeing one or more construction projects at various stages of development. Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; Bluebeam Revu; AutoCAD; and Adobe InDesign
  • Minimum 5 years experience in drafting plans and sections in AutoCAD, interpreting NYC Zoning Resolution and NYC Construction Codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid New York State registration as an Architect preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test fits and feasibility studies for new buildings and additions. Including creative solutions such as vertical additions requiring significant architectural and structural analysis.
  • Analyze land use regulations, NYC Construction Codes, NYC Zoning Resolution, and other applicable requirements for proposed sites.
  • Conduct site observations and prepare field reports.
  • Present studies to an interdisciplinary committee of internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance for Real Estate, Legal, and Capital Plan Management in negotiations with developers.
  • Engage with developers and other stakeholders in pre-design meetings for mixed-use projects.
  • Perform scope and design review of Capacity and CIP projects at all phase submissions
  • Work with a wide range of technical, professional, managerial and support personnel as well as outside consultants, contractors, vendors and various government agencies.
  • Assist in preparing new design standards and procedures.
  • Handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Serve as a member of project teams.
  • Maintain and develop general understanding of architectural and engineering principles.
