About The Position

The SBM / EBM Mold Set-Up B is required to perform basic mold assembly and maintenance to ensure that tooling is production ready at the time of the scheduled set up. This role maintains efficiency, housekeeping, safety, and GMPs, and assists in mold disassembly and assembly. The technician will identify potential issues with tooling through visual inspection, and will disassemble, clean, inspect, and assemble all tooling including all mold components. They will prepare tooling for set up, identify tooling from prepared set-up sheets, and perform mold PM’s at scheduled intervals. The role also involves following daily instructions from the department’s Group Leader, training new department employees, shipping molds to other plants with all components included, and performing inventory and inspection of incoming molds. Additionally, the technician will maintain ownership and adequate inventory of the spare parts inventory cabinet and ship and receive molds as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must provide own tools, toolbox.
  • Must be capable of starting and completing mold changeovers on at least three (3) machine platforms within the department.
  • Must have knowledge of extrusion head teardowns and re-assemblies.
  • Must be able to sandblast extrusion molds and other tooling components if applicable.
  • Basic math skills are required to measure tooling components.
  • Must have a good mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to read, write effectively in order to understand production related materials.
  • Must be capable of sliding heavy molds, in excess of 50 lbs., onto carts, tables and machine surfaces.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Have a good understanding of tooling descriptions by Engineering number and be able to identify mold components used for conversions.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as an SBM / EBM Mold Set-up B.
  • Individual must be capable of sliding heavy molds in excess of 50 lbs. onto carts, tables and machine surfaces.
  • Able to wear all required PPE – steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, hard hat, gloves and heat resistant sleeves, as required.
  • Able to comply with site cGMP requirements – hairnet, beard guards, no jewelry.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
