About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior SBA Closing Officer to lead the closing process for complex SBA loan transactions. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with SBA SOPs, internal credit policies, and regulatory requirements, while driving loans efficiently from approval through funding. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert, partnering cross-functionally with underwriting, credit, sales, and external stakeholders, while also mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of SBA closing experience required, with strong 7(a) experience, 504 preferred
  • Deep knowledge of SBA SOPs, eligibility requirements, and closing procedures
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, collateral documentation, and legal/closing processes
  • Experience working with title, escrow, and third-party vendors
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead SBA loan closings from credit approval through funding
  • Review credit memos, underwriting analyses, and loan terms for accuracy and eligibility
  • Prepare and review closing documents including Notes, Guarantees, Security Instruments, UCC filings, and SBA-required forms
  • Ensure consistency and completeness across all closing documentation
  • Review settlement statements, escrow instructions, and wire requests
  • Ensure all loans meet SBA SOP requirements, including eligibility, collateral, and use of proceeds
  • Validate borrower and guarantor compliance with regulatory requirements including OFAC, KYC, Flood, and Environmental
  • Verify completion and accuracy of SBA forms such as 1919, 1920, 159, and 912
  • Confirm all conditions precedent to funding are satisfied and documented
  • Act as primary point of contact for borrowers, brokers, attorneys, title and escrow partners, and internal teams
  • Provide clear guidance on documentation, timelines, and closing requirements
  • Coordinate with underwriting, credit, servicing, and post-closing teams to ensure seamless funding
  • Manage a high-volume pipeline of SBA loan closings with varying complexity
  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively drive transactions forward
  • Track timelines to ensure closings meet approval and eligibility deadlines
  • Contribute to process improvements and workflow efficiencies
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for SBA closing practices
  • Mentor and support junior closing staff
  • Review files for compliance and accuracy, providing feedback and coaching
  • Support internal audits, SBA reviews, and quality control initiatives
  • Stay current on SBA SOP updates and communicate changes to the team
