About The Position

The Associate SBA BDO will partner closely with Small Business Bankers, Business Bankers, Branch Managers, and Relationship Managers to identify, qualify, and advance SBA lending opportunities. The position will serve as an SBA product specialist while helping bankers uncover opportunities within their existing client and prospect portfolios. The Associate SBA BDO is expected to generate SBA loan production through a combination of self-sourced business development, outbound calling, management of bank-generated leads, and joint-calling activities with CNB bankers. The role will actively support borrowers throughout the SBA lending process, from initial qualification through loan closing. The position is an important component of CNB's strategy to increase SBA production through banking centers, relationship managers, and digital lead generation channels.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience in banking, sales, business development, lending, or financial services.
  • Strong interest in commercial banking and SBA lending.
  • Prior customer-facing sales experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to conduct client meetings and deliver presentations.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative and accountability.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based sales environment.

Responsibilities

  • Originate a minimum of $10 million in SBA loan production annually.
  • Target of $10M in SBA loans through a combination of channels: bank marketing leads, outbound calling supported by Data & Analytics, and RM-sourced deals.
  • Conduct a minimum of 30 face-to-face SBA client and prospect meetings per month in partnership with Small Business Bankers and Business Bankers.
  • Generate new SBA lending opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, and business development activities.
  • Manage and convert SBA opportunities generated through bank marketing programs, digital channels, and banker referrals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Business Bankers, Small Business Bankers, branch personnel, and centers of influence within assigned markets to identify and advance SBA lending opportunities.
  • Serve as the SBA subject matter expert for assigned markets and banking teams.
  • Partner with Business Bankers and Small Business Bankers to identify SBA opportunities within their portfolios.
  • Attend joint client meetings and assist bankers in structuring SBA lending solutions.
  • Provide ongoing SBA product education and coaching to bankers and branch personnel.
  • Support assigned banking centers in achieving SBA production goals.
  • Participate in pipeline review meetings and proactively identify opportunities to increase SBA penetration within assigned markets.
  • Qualify prospective borrowers for SBA eligibility and program fit.
  • Assist applicants with documentation gathering and application completion.
  • Coordinate with credit, processing, closing, servicing, and other internal partners throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, calling activity, and opportunity records within designated systems.
  • Actively manage loan opportunities from initial inquiry through closing and funding.
  • Monitor assigned leads and ensure timely and consistent follow-up.
  • Proactively contact prospects through outbound calling, referrals, and other approved business development activities.
  • Manage leads generated through marketing campaigns, SBA Lender Match, banking centers, and banker referrals.
  • Perform regular calling activities focused on generating new SBA lending opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with bankers to maximize conversion of SBA prospects into funded loans.
