Requirements
- Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Must be able to identify species, size, and grade of lumber.
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
- Reviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made.
- Operate component saw with computer controlled touch screen.
- Adjusts saw for required cuts.
- Adjusts speed of saw and feed rolls.
- Observes automatic feeding of lumber to saw or pushes end of lumber into feed rolls.
- Coordinates multiple activities associated with saw operations including picking, staging, stacking and loading.
- Advises supervisor of dull saw blades.
- Other duties may be assigned.
