About The Position

The Stacker will operate machines to sort and stack lumber. This position is in the Production division, Sawmill subdivision. The role requires the operator to fix cross ups as they occur, have good hand and eye coordination, and be able to recognize different sizes, lengths, and grades of wood. The Stacker ensures equipment operates properly through daily cleanup, ensures products meet quality specifications, and properly places sticks in stacks for good stack quality.

Requirements

  • Must have good hand and eye coordination.
  • Must be able to recognize the different sizes and lengths in wood as well as the different grades.
  • Willing to work any shift including weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed.
  • Commitment to safety.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to change.
  • Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations including wearing safety equipment.
  • Ability to work in noisy environment.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work from elevated positions using required safety gear and procedures.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Driving and operating a mobile equipment such as front end loader, skid steer or forklift within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience working in lumber or wood products industry and/or manufacturing.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment.
  • Sawmill experience preferred.
