About The Position
Robbins Lumber East Baldwin is currently seeking an experienced Sawmill Sawyer to join their team. This role requires hands-on sawmill experience, strong mechanical skills, and a commitment to producing quality lumber safely and efficiently.
Requirements
- Previous sawmill sawing experience required.
- Strong understanding of log characteristics, sawing patterns, and lumber grades.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team while also working independently.
Responsibilities
- Operate sawmill equipment safely and efficiently.
- Set up and adjust saws and related equipment for optimal recovery and lumber quality.
- Read logs and make sound decisions regarding sawing patterns and lumber production.
- Monitor lumber quality and make adjustments as needed.
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and assist with maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Work closely with other members of the sawmill team to maintain production goals.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
