About The Position

West Fraser's Opelika sawmill is hiring for a Sawfiler Apprentice role. In this role, the expectation is that self-motivated individuals applying will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in the sawfiling industry. The role involves performing job assignments effectively and in a timely manner, and safely operating equipment according to procedures. This position requires working rotating shifts, with a shift premium available, and some overtime may be available.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years experience in the sawfiling industry
• Must be able to work rotating shifts
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum age of 18 years
• Excellent safety record
• Follow all safety criteria
• Willing to work any shift
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent attendance record

Responsibilities

• Perform job assignments in an effective & timely manner
• Safely operate equipment according to procedures
• Work rotating shifts
• Contribute to the safety program
• Cross-train on other equipment
