About The Position

The Saw Operator I sets up and operates a single-blade saw. The operator reads production scheduling sheets and identifies the material needed for the operation, then processes and handles material according to specifications and established procedures. The role includes checking materials and finished products for quality, maintaining equipment and production records, and keeping the work area safe, clean, and organized. The operator also follows safety and quality standards, performs lockout/tagout (LOTO) as required, carries out specified preventive maintenance, and participates in safety, continuous improvement, and other programs and meetings.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
At least 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
Some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
Working knowledge of basic math is preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure material meets quality specifications, including grade, size, and moisture content.
Set up equipment according to specifications.
Feed material according to specifications.
Periodically check equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
Offload and stack material according to established procedures; when required, cover, label, and band components or finished products.
Ensure the work area is safe, clean, and organized and equipment is safe to operate.
Complete the pre-shift-startup equipment inspection checklist and report problems or concerns.
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Maintain production records as required.
Check materials and finished products for compliance with standards.
Perform duties in accordance with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.
Perform LOTO as required.
Perform preventive maintenance as specified.
Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
