About The Position

We are looking for a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Saw Operator to join our team at our Chicago, IL facility, a site specializing in precision forgings with approximately $35 million in annual revenue. In this role, you will be responsible for cutting raw material stock to specification using various band and abrasive saws, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in support of our production operations. This is a hands-on position ideal for individuals who take pride in craftsmanship, follow procedures closely, and thrive in a fast-paced industrial setting. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED OR at least 4 years experience in an industrial or agricultural setting.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in forging or metal fabrication environments.
  • Familiarity with machine setup and adjustment for band and abrasive saws.
  • Knowledge of safety standards including Lock-out/Tag-out and Hazard Communication.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and shop orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality inspection skills.
  • Basic math skills including fractions and decimals.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review shop orders to identify correct stock and initial measurements.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate band and abrasive saws to cut raw material to specifications.
  • Select or manufacture appropriate work holdings and fixtures for safe and efficient cutting.
  • Measure, mark, trim, and deburr stock according to shop order requirements.
  • Monitor saw blade and abrasive disk condition; replace as needed.
  • Load and unload vices, fixtures, and parts safely and efficiently.
  • Count, mark, pack, and store parts and raw materials in designated locations.
  • Inspect products for conformance and hold non-conforming items until supervisor review.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.
  • Communicate equipment or process issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Assist with dispositions on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned to meet production goals.
