About The Position

The Saw Operator position is responsible for operating and setting up assigned saws, inspecting products for quality, and reporting production information accurately. This role requires understanding and adhering to all safety policies and procedures, interpreting job orders, and operating related equipment. The Saw Operator will also train other workers in equipment operation, report work progress to Production Management, and coordinate with general laborers. This position is primarily performed in an outdoor environment, subject to weather, noise, and dust.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
  • 90% of work to be performed in an outdoor environment subject weather, noise, and dust.
  • Ability to read, write, and do basic mathematics.
  • Advanced knowledge of the operation of all machinery and equipment used within primary job duty.
  • Maintains certification to operate equipment if so required.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly.
  • Is consistently at work and on time.
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and sets up assigned saw(s).
  • Inspects products for quality.
  • Ensures production reporting is clean, accurate, and legible.
  • Understands and observes all safety policies and procedures.
  • Interprets job orders assigned.
  • Operates equipment related to these activities and trains workers in equipment operation.
  • Reports work progress to the Production Management.
  • Coordinates with general laborers.
  • Performs other duties as required by management.
  • Effectively promotes teamwork in department.
  • Coordinates with production management in regard to daily production goals, efficiency, cleanliness, safety, and training of co-workers.
