About The Position

This role involves assisting the saw operator in cutting extrusions to specific lengths according to customer requirements. The Saw Assistant is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of cut materials before they are transferred to the next department, maintaining a safe work environment, and performing general housekeeping duties. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a demanding manufacturing setting.

Requirements

High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Promote a culture of safety and follow all local safety guidelines.
Act as a helper and back-up operator to the saw operator.
Cut extrusions to their required length according to customer requirements and properly stack them onto age carts.
Record accurate counts of material cut and ensure all material is properly identified and dimensionally correct before it is transferred to the tempering department.
Measure the length of the part as the first product is placed on the rack, in the middle of the rack, and as the last part is placed on the age cart, recording dimensions on the Daily Saw Report (QC-50).
Monitor machine fluid levels.
Ensure quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation.
Report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management.
Maintain cleanliness of own work area and general housekeeping of the Company.
Actively participate in all established company health and safety training programs, and comply with all policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
