About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a SATS Coordinator for the Goose Creek Correctional Center, specifically for the ADOC SATS Program. This role operates under the direction of the SATS Clinical Manager and is responsible for maintaining a caseload, facilitating groups, conducting staff meetings, and supervising on-site counselors. The coordinator will also conduct training, ensure compliance with ADOC SATS contract obligations, manage counselors, submit reports, and act as the primary liaison with ADOC institutional staff. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and is a non-exempt role. The contract duration is from approximately 7/1/2026 through 6/30/2027, with potential for renewal up to 6/30/2029, contingent on contract renewal.

Requirements

  • An Alaska State CDCI is required.
  • Prior administrative, and supervisory experience, skills and abilities.
  • Three years of direct clinical experience in the treatment of chemical dependency, substance use disorders, and dual diagnosis/co-occurring disorders.
  • Expert in the knowledge of Substance Related and Addictive Disorders and its treatment.
  • Must have experience consistent with the requirements for Alaska State Certification Chemical Dependency Counselor II (CDCII).
  • Must be able to obtain Alaska State CDCII Certification within one year from date of hire.
  • Must be able to pass ADOC background check and PREA screening.
  • Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to give presentations and be comfortable with public speaking.
  • Must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical situations.
  • Must complete the online course for Sacred Boundaries and Protect the Mission and pass the Background Check required by The Salvation Army for employment.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate a telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and ASAM CONTINUUM required.
  • Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

  • A Chemical Dependency Clinical Supervisor (CDCS) certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of clients, developing treatment plans, conducting groups, and ensuring client compliance with assigned curriculum.
  • Facilitate groups and conduct staff meetings.
  • Serve as the supervisor for all on-site counselors.
  • Conduct training sessions for clinical staff, including new employees, and provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensure all counselors are compliant with ADOC SATS contract obligations.
  • Manage all on-site counselors.
  • Submit reports, including statistical reports, quality improvement reports, and critical incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with ADOC institutional staff.
  • Monitor the delivery of services and coordinate treatment activities, ensuring Counselors are following approved curriculum.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management.
