About The Position

Infinity is seeking a Satellite Communications System Engineer to support the Mission System Research and Development Support contract at the Blossom Point Satellite Command and Tracking Facility (BPTF) in Welcome, Maryland. This role involves integrating new missions, planning system upgrades, and identifying requirements and deficiencies in ground station hardware and software. The engineer will assist with analyses to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and ensure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces. This position is contingent upon award and is slated to begin between March and June 2027. Infinity is looking for individuals currently supporting the BPTF mission or experienced professionals with the relevant skills and passion to contribute to critical national security and space operations programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, science discipline or related field
  • 5+ years of experience with spacecraft ground stations systems and networks
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance Required
  • Technical background in ground station system and subsystem design and development for spacecraft telemetry, tracking and communications.
  • Strong knowledge of system design, integration, and architecture.
  • Experience with system security, data protection protocols, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in network infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages for system management.
  • Experience with Neptune.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL.
  • Certifications in systems engineering (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement system architectures that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Capture and manage customer needs and requirements, develop OPSCON/CONOPS, and ensure traceability from system to component level.
  • Perform modeling and simulation, define verification criteria, conduct requirements sell-off, and validate deployment.
  • Create and maintain Operations & Maintenance (O&M) documentation.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance system capabilities and performance.
  • Ensure system designs align with security, compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and upgrades to ensure stability and security.
  • Analyze system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop and implement system testing protocols to validate functionality and security.
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Provide technical support for network, hardware, and software configurations.
  • Document system issues, resolutions, and preventative measures to enhance future troubleshooting efforts.
  • Manage and trade off performance, cost, schedule, risk, and other system attributes to achieve an optimal solution that meets stakeholder needs and aligns with organizational goals.
  • Manage system integration projects, ensuring seamless deployment and interoperability of technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess system requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize system enhancements and align program goals.
  • Create and maintain detailed system documentation, including technical specifications, configurations, and user manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, data protection policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
