About The Position

The SATCOM RF Engineer IV will be responsible for developing and integrating various satellite communications subsystems into operational systems. This includes RF, baseband, and ground network equipment elements. The role requires advanced knowledge of digital network communications, RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, and IP networking. A deep understanding of VSAT networks, platforms, and the TCP/IP protocol suite is essential. The engineer will also need knowledge of different satellite frequency bands (L, C, Ku-band, etc.) and their signal qualities. Strong systems engineering and decision-making skills are crucial, including the ability to identify critical requirements, present complex information clearly, and align technical solutions with organizational goals. Experience with system trade studies, requirements analysis, interface management, and verification/validation plans is also required. Proficiency in Windows, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio is necessary. The ability to analyze complex situations under pressure, learn new technologies quickly, and write technical documentation is key.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to the position; an additional four (4) years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience in addition to education level.
  • Must possess current DoD 8570 IAT II and GVF (or equivalent) certifications.
  • Current active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in communication system development, satellite ground segment, and/or system integration.
  • Experience in capacity management and/or systems engineering and/or other engineering functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital network communications and RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, IP networking.
  • In-depth knowledge of VSAT networks and platforms as well as TCP/IP protocol suite and network protocols (unicast/multicast, VoIP, IPsec, QoS).
  • Knowledge on the specifications and differences between various satellite frequency bands (L, C, Ku-band, etc.) and the qualities of on each signal band in various applications.
  • Well-developed systems engineering and decision-making skills required, including recognition of critical vs non-critical requirements, ability to present complex issues in clearly written language, ability to use diagrams, tables, or figures to improve the presentation of technical material, and the acumen to ensure key business issues are addressed consistent with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Prior knowledge or work experience in performing system trade studies, performing requirements analysis, interface management and documentation, and/or development and implementation of verification and validation plans and procedures.
  • Good software skills with prior experience in Windows, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience working in a DoD or Intelligence Community Environment desired.

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals and technical publications.
  • Gather technical information and prepare written text.
  • Maintain a current internal documentation library.
  • Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
