About The Position

SAIC is seeking a SATCOM Requirements Systems Engineer to join their team in El Segundo, CA. The role involves joining a systems engineering team focused on defining the next generation of space communication systems for the US Space Force (USSF). The position supports Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment, requiring interaction with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians, and members of the USSF. The engineer will lead and support working groups responsible for technical discussions, risk identification and resolution, requirement gap analysis, briefing development, action item tracking, and authoring meeting minutes. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading-edge SE&I for the US Space Force’s Space Systems Center (SSC), supporting the acquisition of advanced satellite communications systems for secure, survivable, and protected communications for the nation's warfighters. The team utilizes modern tools and methodologies to integrate complex space and ground communications systems.

Requirements

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Ability to develop, refine, and manage system and subsystem requirements.
  • Experience analyzing system requirements and participating in verification activities.
  • Familiarity with reviewing TRDs and ICDs.
  • Experience working with government and contractor teams.
  • Proficiency with tools such as DOORS for requirements management.
  • Experience supporting technical working groups, including preparing materials, documenting minutes, and tracking actions.
  • Ability to assess impacts to the system technical baseline and identify integration considerations.
  • Experience reviewing program documentation and collaborating on adjudication.
  • Ability to provide technical input and assist in developing briefings.
  • Experience participating in risk, issue, and dependency management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities to assist with development and maintenance of technical baselines.
  • Develop, refine, and manage system and subsystem requirements, ensuring they are clear, traceable, and verifiable.
  • Analyze system requirements and participate in verification activities, including review of TRDs, ICDs, and related documentation.
  • Work with government and contractor teams to identify and close requirements gaps using tools such as DOORS.
  • Support and occasionally lead technical working groups: preparing meeting materials, documenting minutes, tracking actions, and fostering collaborative problem-solving.
  • Assist in assessing impacts to the system technical baseline and identifying integration considerations across stakeholders.
  • Review program documentation, capture reviewer comments, and collaborate with contractors on adjudication.
  • Provide technical input and assist in developing briefings for USSF program leadership.
  • Participate in risk, issue, and dependency management activities; help identify disconnects and propose solutions.
