About The Position

Friendship Collegiate Academy builds scholars ready for the rigors and rewards of college. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Commitment to providing a world-class education to students from historically underserved communities.
  • Strong understanding of SAT Math, Evidence-Based Reading, and Writing content and strategies.
  • Ability to analyze student data and use results to inform instruction, intervention, and acceleration.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Ability to build rapport with students and motivate them to reach their full potential.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an SAT instructor, intervention teacher, acceleration teacher, secondary math teacher, secondary English teacher, or related instructional role.
  • Knowledge of current SAT testing strategies, formats, and preparation techniques.
  • Identified as “in field,” which may include: Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from an accredited university; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and completed Praxis requirements.
  • Has demonstrated at least one year of effective teaching in their field as measured by the LEA’s teacher evaluation system.
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and/or continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of learning that fosters students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments aligned to Friendship’s curriculum, college-readiness goals, and SAT expectations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive SAT preparation plans that support student growth in SAT Math, Evidence-Based Reading, and Writing.
  • Deliver engaging, research-based instruction that strengthens students’ foundational academic skills, problem-solving abilities, critical reading, grammar, writing, and test-taking strategies.
  • Analyze student performance data, including diagnostic assessments, practice tests, benchmark data, and classroom performance, to monitor progress and deliver focused interventions.
  • Administer SAT-aligned practice assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback to students on strengths, growth areas, and next steps.
  • Adjust instructional strategies based on student progress, assessment data, and individual learning needs.
  • Provide targeted small-group and individual support to students requiring additional intervention or acceleration.
  • Stay current with SAT updates, testing formats, score expectations, and effective preparation strategies, and adjust instructional practices accordingly.
  • Create a positive and research-based classroom environment that motivates students to set goals, track progress, and take ownership of their SAT preparation.
  • Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team, or other student assistance team as requested.
  • Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher.
  • Communicate with students to understand their talents, interests, and needs and to convey learning expectations and progress toward meeting those expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with families to identify students’ talents, interests, and needs and update parents/guardians regarding students’ achievements, progress, and areas for continued support.
  • Collaborate with school-based staff and colleagues throughout the Friendship network in staff meetings, data analysis sessions, and professional learning designed to enhance the student learning experience and increase student achievement.
  • Support school-wide college readiness and academic achievement initiatives, including SAT preparation, intervention programming, and student goal-setting.
