About The Position

Proximity Learning is seeking a part-time SAT Prep Instructor for 11th-grade students in Chicago non-public schools. This 14-week program, starting in January, aims to enhance students' reading, writing, and math skills, while also equipping them with effective SAT test-taking strategies. The ideal candidate is reliable, patient, flexible, and dedicated to fostering academic growth and confidence in high school students. Collaboration with school staff and Proximity Learning's instructional team is key to ensuring student success.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
At least one year of experience as a classroom teacher, tutor, or academic support professional.
Ability to reliably commute to the school in Chicago, IL 60644.
Hiring is contingent upon completing and passing the required national criminal background check, which may include fingerprinting, employment verification, and education verification.

Nice To Haves

Teaching certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide SAT instruction in reading, writing, math, and test-taking strategies.
Create lesson plans aligned with SAT content and student learning needs.
Teach students to analyze texts, identify key details, and apply problem-solving strategies.
Assign and monitor SAT practice, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Monitor and document student progress through assessments, practice results, and classroom performance, adjusting instruction as needed.
Record student attendance daily and maintain accurate records.
Maintain other required program documentation.
Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages participation and effort.
Communicate with Proximity Learning management, school staff, and parents regarding student progress.
