About The Position

Join the YMCA of Middle Tennessee as a 2026-2027 SAS Site Assistant, Mornings & Afternoons - Stanford Montessori Elementary School and be part of a team that helps children grow socially, physically, spiritually, and mentally in a fun, safe, and engaging environment! This is a part-time position and is not a temporary or summer-only position. The role involves leading and engaging children in activities, setting up and maintaining program spaces, implementing curriculum, building relationships with staff and families, and ensuring site licensing and quality standards are met.

Requirements

• Minimum Age: 18
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enthusiastic, organized, and team-oriented individuals with a passion for youth development.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to multitask.
• Must be available Monday through Friday
• Must be able to commit to ongoing employment during the 2026–2027 school year
• Before your first shift: Orientation, DHS Background Check, Fingerprinting, Abuse Registry Check, health forms, training sessions, and references.
• Within 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/AED (Infant/Pediatric).

Nice To Haves

• The essential functions of this position include the ability to see and hear children clearly, move quickly to ensure their safety, lift up to 40 lbs, and comfortably spend time standing, bending, and being outdoors in changing weather.

Responsibilities

• Actively lead and engage a group of 15–20 children in activities, inside and outside.
• Set up and transform program spaces into child-friendly environments and ensure cleanliness.
• Help implement a quality curriculum aligned with YMCA guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, school personnel, and families.
• Ensure site licensing and quality standards are maintained.
