About The Position

Agilent is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Lead to provide technical leadership across its enterprise SAP landscape and support strategic business initiatives, SAP modernization, and the S/4HANA transformation. This hands-on technical leadership role is responsible for SAP solution design, development, integration, technical standards, and solution quality. The role works closely with functional teams, solution architects, business stakeholders, and implementation partners to deliver scalable, reliable, and maintainable SAP solutions. The successful candidate combines deep SAP technical expertise with leadership, solution-design, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. They will remain hands-on while providing technical direction, influencing solution architecture, mentoring teams, and helping shape Agilent’s SAP technology landscape.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent.
At least 8 years of SAP technical experience, including strong hands-on experience in SAP development, technical solution design, and architecture.
At least 3 years of leadership experience providing technical direction, mentoring team members, driving solution design, and coordinating SAP development teams and delivery partners.
Strong hands-on expertise in SAP ABAP, ABAP Objects, enhancements, interfaces, reports, forms, workflows, IDocs, APIs, OData services, and CDS Views.
Strong experience working with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
Strong understanding of SAP technical architecture, integrations, development standards, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
Experience reviewing technical designs and code and establishing development standards and best practices.
Experience collaborating with functional teams, solution architects, integration teams, business stakeholders, and external implementation partners.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor geographically distributed technical teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with SAP S/4HANA transformation, migration, upgrade, or modernization programs.
Experience with SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite, Fiori/UI5, RAP, and modern SAP extensibility approaches.
Knowledge of SAP Clean Core principles, side-by-side extensibility, and custom-code optimization.
Experience with SPDD/SPAU and SAP custom-code remediation as part of upgrades or transformation programs.
Experience working within a large, complex, global SAP environment.
Experience leading or coordinating onshore/offshore teams and external implementation or support partners.
Relevant SAP certifications in ABAP, S/4HANA, BTP, or related SAP technologies.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for SAP projects, enhancements, integrations, and modernization initiatives.
Lead technical solution design and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Provide hands-on technical expertise across SAP ABAP, ABAP Objects, enhancements, interfaces, workflows, APIs, IDocs, OData, CDS Views, and related SAP technologies.
Provide technical leadership for the transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA and the adoption of modern SAP architecture and development practices.
Promote SAP Clean Core principles, custom-code optimization, and modern extensibility approaches.
Review technical designs and development approaches to ensure quality, consistency, performance, and adherence to development standards.
Partner with functional teams, solution architects, integration teams, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
Provide technical leadership for SAP integrations with enterprise applications and cloud platforms.
Establish and promote SAP technical standards, development guidelines, governance, documentation, and best practices.
Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to internal team members and external development partners.
Collaborate with SAP and strategic implementation partners on solution architecture, S/4HANA transformation, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
Evaluate emerging SAP technologies and recommend opportunities to simplify and modernize the SAP application landscape.
