SAP ABAP Programmer
About The Position
Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Programmer with strong S/4HANA expertise to design, develop, and support custom enhancements, integrations, and reports within large enterprise SAP landscapes. The role spans requirements analysis, technical design, coding, unit testing, performance tuning, and post-go-live support, in collaboration with functional consultants and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate has deep ABAP knowledge—including core ABAP, ABAP OO, CDS views, AMDPs, and OData—and understands S/4HANA architecture, Fiori integration, and clean-core principles. This is a full-time, direct W2 position with Bright Vision Technologies, performed 100% remotely within the continental United States. It is an in-house Statement of Work engagement; the employer is Bright Vision Technologies, with no third-party client, vendor, or implementation partner. C2C, 1099, and third-party arrangements are not accepted. New H1B sponsorship is unavailable, but qualified candidates with a valid H1B may apply for a transfer. A technical coding assessment is mandatory.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Five or more years of professional ABAP development experience, including significant experience with S/4HANA.
- Strong hands-on expertise with ABAP OO, CDS views, AMDPs, and HANA-optimized ABAP.
- Solid experience building OData services and integrating with Fiori applications.
- Hands-on experience with enhancement frameworks, including BADIs, user exits, and implicit or explicit enhancements.
- Strong experience with integration technologies such as IDoc, RFC, BAPI, and Web Services.
- Understanding of SAP module data structures, including FI/CO, SD, MM, or PP, depending on the project area.
- Experience with performance-tuning tools such as SAT and ST05, and HANA diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager, ChaRM, and SAP transport management.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Willingness to work as a full-time W2 employee of Bright Vision Technologies on its in-house SOW deliverables.
- Confidence in technical abilities and hands-on experience for the mandatory technical coding assessment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with S/4HANA system conversions or greenfield implementations.
- Exposure to SAP BTP, ABAP RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model), or steampunk.
- Hands-on experience with Fiori/UI5 development.
- Familiarity with SAP CPI / Integration Suite.
- SAP-certified ABAP developer credentials.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom ABAP programs, enhancements, BAPIs, BADIs, user exits, and interfaces in SAP S/4HANA, following clean-core and modification-free principles where possible.
- Build performant CDS views, AMDPs, and HANA-optimized ABAP code using code pushdown and S/4HANA’s in-memory architecture.
- Develop and consume OData services and RESTful APIs for Fiori applications and integrations with non-SAP systems.
- Implement SAP Gateway services, including service registration, modeling, and lifecycle management.
- Develop classical and interactive ALV reports, smart forms, Adobe forms, and Fiori-aligned output channels.
- Build and maintain interfaces using IDocs, RFC, BAPI, Web Services, and SAP API Hub.
- Analyze business requirements with functional consultants and translate them into documented technical designs.
- Conduct unit testing, support functional and integration testing, and resolve defects during UAT and post-go-live hypercare.
- Tune ABAP code, SQL queries, and database access patterns using SAT, ST05, and HANA diagnostic tools.
- Support S/4HANA upgrades, system conversions, and code remediation, including SCMON/UPL analysis and clean-core readiness assessments.
- Apply security best practices to custom developments, including authority checks, secure data handling, and compliance with internal SAP governance.
- Document technical specifications, code reviews, and operational procedures in line with enterprise SAP standards.
- Mentor junior ABAP developers and serve as a technical reference within the SAP team.
