About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor, the Sanitation HVAC Technician is responsible to clean and inspect the cooling units throughout the plant in accordance with the SSOP and at a frequency stated on the MSS. Report condition of cooling units and communicate to supervisor any issues observed or any repairs needed. In order to become a successful member of the Sanitation department, a person must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, able to keep up in a fast paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Reading, writing, and basic math skills required.
  • 3-5 years experience working in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Certified (or able to be certified) to operate boom lift and scissor lift.
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Self-motivated, a self-starter and self-directed to work without close supervision in a team environment.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Proactive in communicating and dealing with issues that arise.
  • Hard-working, dependable, safety and quality conscious.
  • Possesses good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and to communicate effectively with others.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Available to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Proper and safe use of hand tools and power washer.
  • Able to work on elevated platforms safely for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Use basic tools to disassemble, reassemble and clean cooling units. (Size 7/16 ratcheting wrench, multi-bit screwdriver, fan balde/wheel puller, handheld sprayer, water nozzle)

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work as assigned while adhering to high standards associated with safety and workmanship.
  • Wear proper PPE (safety goggles, harness, personal respirator, steel-toed safety boots, rainsuit).
  • Use basic tools to disassemble, reassemble and clean cooling units.
  • Inspect ariel lift and complete documentation prior to each use.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of ariel lifts.
  • Inspect tools and power washing equipment prior to each use.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of pressure washer.
  • Understands and adheres to established safety programs (lockout/tag out, ladder safety, etc.).
  • Read and abide by the use and warning labels of cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain proper logs and records of units cleaned on document 03.03.01 (Master Sanitation Schedule) and document 03.03.05.02 (Evaporators Cooling Unit Cleaning Locations.)
  • Complete sanitation work orders as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Other duties as may be assigned or volunteered for.
  • Adheres to all GMP guidelines in the performance of job.
