About The Position

The Sanitor position is responsible for properly cleaning all production and process equipment to ensure a clean and bacteria-free plant. This role involves disassembling, cleaning, rinsing, and sanitizing machinery, as well as reassembling equipment after the cleaning process. The Sanitor will also be responsible for filling out checklists, performing chemical cleaning with proper safety procedures, and using testing units to determine equipment cleanliness. Compliance with safety, SQF, and GMP practices is essential, along with ensuring adherence to corporate standards for food safety, quality, and facility cleanliness. The role also includes participation in safety programs, managing a "pig program" for product lines, and coordinating with the packaging team for tank changes during overnight runs.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble production and process equipment: clean, rinse, and sanitize all product contact machinery utilizing all required PPE equipment.
  • Reassemble production and process equipment after cleaning & sanitizing.
  • Fill out “Pre-Op/Check List Sheets” for assigned job areas.
  • Chemically clean machinery while maintaining proper safety procedures including LOTO for pneumatic, electrical, etc. of energy sources.
  • Use 3M Biotrace units to determine the cleanliness of equipment by following “sanitor self- swabbing program” on product contact areas.
  • Perform CIP (Clean in Place) technique (training required).
  • Ensure compliance to all safety, SQF, and GMP practices.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety, food safety culture, quality and facility cleanliness.
  • Participate in the “Daily Safety Captain Program”.
  • Follow “pig program” on procedure of retrieving/recovering pigs and placing on appropriate storage boards.
  • Where applicable; trained and capable on “pigging” of product lines from processing kitchen.
  • Where applicable; ability to monitor and coordinate with packaging team then change and or switch product tanks during overnight runs.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Report any suspicious activities anywhere in or around the plant.
  • Inspect work area for any possible product contamination issues before, during, and after sanitation activities.
  • Complete proper documentation on all cleaning process including chemical concentrations, temperature, cycle times, etc.
  • Complete pre-start up inspections of your area to ensure no product contamination risk exists and the area is in a sanitary condition.
