About The Position

The Sanitation Weekend role is responsible for maintaining plant cleanliness in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety standards. This involves sanitizing and cleaning production areas, equipment, and storage areas using chemicals and cleaning tools. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and accurate documentation of all sanitation activities. The role also involves contributing to incident investigations, preparing equipment for cleaning, and maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies. The individual must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and possess basic computer skills. On-the-job training is provided for various procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate and read labels in English
  • Works safely with chemicals used for cleaning
  • Some cleaning experience required
  • Attention to detail
  • Physical stamina in warm, wet, low to ground, at heights, and cold environments
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Basic computer skills to include the ability to utilize email programs and complete computer-based training courses with minimal assistance
  • Must be able to work in fast paced environment
  • Able to clean all equipment entering the washroom by written procedure i.e. dismantle, proper protection of electrical components, clean effectively and reassemble with all guards, bolts and parts safely replaced
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all dry-cleaning procedures
  • Capable of using all applicable classes of Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) with proper training and be able to maintain valid certification
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Sanitize and clean production areas inside, out, underneath and at heights with chemicals & cleaning tools while wearing all appropriate PPEs in warm, moist environments
  • Evaluate sanitation effectiveness with visual inspection and chemical concentrations for program compliance
  • Complete pre-operational inspections of equipment and documents findings
  • Properly, accurately and timely complete all sanitation documentation
  • Read and understand master sanitation schedule MSS, SSOPs, chemical labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Contribute to incident investigations (safety, food safety incidents, pest sightings, contaminations, allergen cross contact, non-conformances, complaints, audit findings, etc.)
  • Prepare production equipment for cleaning by following proper LOTO procedures
  • Disassemble, clean and sanitize all food-processing equipment, including storage areas, handling any and all line clean ups and the documentation for clean ups, enforcing all safety rules and regulations, monitoring the inventory of cleaning equipment and cleaning supplies
  • Maintain plant cleanliness in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety standards
  • Adhere to and practice all rules of Absolute Safety including by not limited to safety, food safety, LOTO, GMPs, etc.
  • Coordinate supplies, equipment and contractor support for plant sanitation and pest control
  • Log and record daily chemical usage
  • Train employees in sanitation and sanitation related procedures and programs
  • Works with and communicates well with others, fostering a team atmosphere
  • Maintains a clean, safe, organized work area at all times
  • Attention to safety for themselves and others: checking areas of the line where others are working before starting equipment
  • Able to clean all equipment entering the washroom by written procedure i.e. dismantle, proper protection of electrical components, clean effectively and reassemble with all guards, bolts and parts safely replaced
  • Perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Notify Supervision of any/all issues
  • All other duties as assigned
