About The Position

The Sanitation Technician supports food manufacturing operations by performing cleaning and sanitation activities to ensure equipment, work areas, and facilities meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role follows established sanitation procedures to prevent contamination, support production readiness, and maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to follow sanitation procedures, chemical handling instructions, and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to read and understand chemical labels, safety data, and standard operating procedures.
  • Basic math skills to measure and calculate chemical concentrations.
  • Ability to accurately complete sanitation documentation and records.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a sanitation team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in wet, hot, noisy environments and around chemicals and processing equipment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including PPE use and safety protocols.
  • Must have authorization to work in the country in which the role is based.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine sanitation and cleaning of production equipment, tools, and facility areas in accordance with sanitation standard operating procedures.
  • Operate sanitation equipment such as steam pressure hoses, chemical foamers, and cleaning systems safely and effectively.
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble production equipment as required to ensure thorough sanitation.
  • Mix and apply cleaning and sanitizing chemicals according to approved concentrations and safety requirements.
  • Verify sanitation effectiveness using approved tools and methods, including cleanliness testing where required.
  • Document completion of sanitation tasks accurately to meet food safety, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow food safety, GMP, and sanitation requirements, including applicable process control checks.
  • Use proper lockout/tagout procedures and required personal protective equipment during sanitation activities.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure sanitation areas are audit‑ready.
  • Communicate sanitation issues, hazards, or equipment concerns to sanitation leaders or quality partners.
  • Support production or sanitation team needs as assigned during non‑standard situations.
