About The Position

As a Sanitation Technician, you will help ensure a safe, clean, and compliant manufacturing environment that supports the production and packaging of high-quality food products. Your work will directly contribute to food safety, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of production or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, push, and pull materials weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance when required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in wet, humid, hot, cold, and loud manufacturing environments while utilizing required PPE.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and commitment to following GMP, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, SDS information, and operational procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and varying schedules as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sanitation experience in a food manufacturing, beverage, pharmaceutical, or regulated production environment.
  • Experience with allergen control programs and sanitation validation procedures.
  • Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP), and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Experience operating powered lifts, scissor lifts, floor scrubbers, compactors, and industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Experience handling and mixing chemical cleaning concentrates.
  • Knowledge of pest control, waste management, and recycling processes.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies such as 5S.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience creating or updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities

  • Perform plant cleaning and sanitation activities according to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout all production and support areas.
  • Operate sanitation and cleaning equipment including power washers, foam applicators, steamers, powered lifts, floor scrubbers, vacuum systems, compactors, and related equipment.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as floor jacks and other designated tools.
  • Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble processing equipment including pumps, filters, bucket elevators, slurry systems, and other manufacturing machinery.
  • Follow Allergen Elimination Procedures and established sanitation protocols.
  • Handle, mix, and apply chemical cleaning solutions in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), OSHA requirements, food safety standards, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, defective equipment, incidents, injuries, and potential sanitation risks.
  • Assist with spill containment, waste removal, recycling collection, and pest activity reporting.
  • Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP), and other safety program requirements.
  • Participate in safety training, team development programs, plant initiatives, and Continuous Improvement activities including 5S.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and may assist with data entry, chemical inventory tracking, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties and support mandatory overtime as business needs require.
