About The Position

The Sanitation Technician-P plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across various facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for employees, visitors, and the community. This position involves the thorough cleaning, sanitizing, and upkeep of designated areas using specialized equipment and cleaning agents. The technician will be responsible for adhering to strict safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to prevent contamination and the spread of pathogens. By performing routine inspections and maintenance of sanitation equipment, the technician helps sustain operational efficiency and compliance with health standards. Ultimately, this role supports the overall mission of promoting public health and safety through diligent sanitation practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in sanitation, janitorial, or custodial work.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines and cleaning protocols.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license if required for travel between multiple sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in sanitation or cleaning safety standards (e.g., OSHA, CDC guidelines).
  • Experience working in industrial, healthcare, or food service environments.
  • Familiarity with environmentally friendly cleaning products and sustainable sanitation practices.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and collaborate with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of floors, workspaces, and common areas using appropriate tools and chemicals
  • Dispose of waste and cleaning and sanitizing laboratory supplies
  • Follow established safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure to hazardous substances.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and report needs for replenishment to management.
  • Document cleaning activities and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards observed during routine inspections.
