About The Position

The Sanitation Superintendent works with employees and management to ensure that work areas are properly sanitized. This role maintains all Sanitation departmental records (excluding attendance), interprets and enforces company policies, and evaluates department staffing and equipment efficiency. The Superintendent performs employee evaluations at 30, 60, and 90-day intervals, and assesses the effectiveness of cleaning abilities. This position ensures adherence to all USDA and HACCP regulations, assigns daily job tasks to Crew Leaders to meet production schedules, and analyzes/resolves work problems. The Superintendent investigates non-compliant test results, adjusts work procedures or personnel to meet standards, and schedules all Sanitation work shifts, including daily and weekend assignments. They are responsible for ensuring new employees receive Food Safety, HACCP, Chemical, and LOTO training, and for creating and rewriting Sanitation SOPs. Weekly chemical checks are performed, and retraining and discipline sessions are issued for HACCP corrective actions and USDA non-compliance. The Superintendent will randomly inspect equipment and cleaning procedures, provide oversight on job assignments, scheduling, and supervision, and is responsible for instructing, evaluating, disciplining, and ongoing training.

Requirements

  • Proficient and knowledgeable of all aspects of Sanitation Processes, QA, USDA, all Safety procedures including but not limited to Chemical Safety.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Interpersonal skills to sustain and support a positive employee relations workplace environment.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to work safely and responsibly with fellow employees and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 15-40lbs frequently and up to 75lbs occasionally with assistance if necessary.
  • Must keep all proprietary information confidential.
  • Two year related experience required.
  • Strong background in HAZMAT, LOTO, CHEMICAL SAFETY, AND ALL APPLICABLE SAFETY STANDARDS AFFECTING THE SANITATION PROCESS.

  • Schedule all Sanitation work shifts daily and weekend.
  • Assure that all new Sanitation employees receive their Food Safety, HACCP, Chemical and LOTO training.
  • Create and rewrite Sanitation SOP’s.
  • Perform weekly chemical checks on various chemical concentrations and dispensing units.
  • Issue retraining and discipline sessions for HACCP corrective actions and USDA non-compliance.
  • At random, inspect equipment and cleaning procedures within different areas of the plant.
  • Provide oversight on job assignments, scheduling and supervision.
  • Responsible for instructing, evaluating, disciplining, and ongoing training.
