About The Position

Responsible for systematic cleaning throughout the factory (inside and out), offices, cafeteria, and restrooms. This also includes the factory production floor (i.e., overhead piping, vents, walls, drains, etc.). Accountable for maintaining safety standards for chemical handling and Master Sanitation tasks as assigned. Assists Operations with supply chemicals for Sanitation cycles and calibrating dispensing unit on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Must work autonomously with limited supervision and be results driven.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical issues (use of basic tools).
  • Must manage time responsibly to complete assigned tasks on a regular schedule.
  • Ability to work side by side with Production and Quality to resolve issues and make improvements.
  • Understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must follow safety rules and procedures including the wearing of safety PPE where appropriate.
  • Must observe Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Tulare Operations Center policies.
  • Must be able to move around, to and from one’s designated work area on concrete and dairy brick surfaces which are often uneven, wet, and slippery.
  • Work every scheduled day and arrive at workstation before the scheduled start time.
  • Communicate effectively with various support groups, supervisors, and team members as assigned.
  • Detect and understand warning lights, buzzers, alarms, or instruments indicating hazardous conditions or circumstances which may cause equipment or product loss and physical harm.
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment.
  • Must be able to grip/use a low-pressure hot water hose/nozzle (80-100 lbs. of pressure) for 30 minutes to 1-hour periods.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs. (material boxes, equipment, parts) from floor level to a height of 3 to 4 feet high.
  • Use various hand tools for cleaning and equipment repair/replacement. Includes floor scrubbers and wet/dry shop-vacs.
  • Must be able to climb and descend ladders. Working at heights certified for overhead cleaning and hose repair.
  • Must possess the ability to understand verbal and written safety and chemical handling instructions.
  • Must be able to hold manual dexterity and strength to operate a high-pressure hose and use tools in equipment disassembly and reassembly.

Responsibilities

  • Clean Sensory Room after session has been conducted, ensuring no ice cream is present on the counter and appropriate disposal of trash.
  • Maintain the Storage Room shelves and Production Line bins and cabinets with necessary supplies and PPE for Operations.
  • Maintain the soaps and sanitizers in every Hand-Wash station throughout the factory, monitoring chemical output and keeping surrounding areas clean.
  • Scrub assigned drains for each Hand-Wash station when scheduled, removing debris to prevent overflow.
  • Clean and sanitize assigned areas of the factory as part of the Master Sanitation schedule, ensuring equipment carts and foamers are clean and organized.
  • Maintain the production floor & drain brushes properly, adhering to the factory color code policy.
  • Ensure proper disposal of plastic, trash, paper towel pieces, cardboard and other miscellaneous items in their proper bins.
  • Empty aerosol can dispensers as needed in their appropriate locations.
  • Adhere to drain cleaning schedule as it applies to the Master Sanitation program, wearing proper PPE.
  • Maintain, repair, and replace paper towel dispensers, especially at the production floor entrances.
  • Ensure hand sanitizers are replenished when empty, and repair or replace them as needed.
  • Remove any damaged equipment and items from the factory floor and dispose of them in the appropriate location.
  • Sanitize flat surfaces throughout the factory, including office tables, countertops, break room tables, sink and coffee areas, electrical panels, and operator desks/computers.
  • Maintain an accurate min/max inventory of cleaning and factory equipment, including materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Work with Production and Quality departments in addressing environmental issues throughout the factory.
  • Ensure that unauthorized associates do not tamper with chemicals in the chemical room or attempt to dispense chemicals manually.
  • Maintain all chemical jugs/spray bottles, ensuring they are labeled correctly and that new labels are available.
  • Maintain the Men’s/Women’s locker room clean, including janitorial cleaning of toilets, stalls, sinks, and trash bins.
  • Sweep and mop locker room floors, dust off the top of lockers and all flat surfaces.
  • Conduct a monthly deep cleaning of the locker rooms: caustic chemical scrub, manual scrubbing and sanitize from top to bottom.
  • Dust overhead piping and vents in locker rooms and clean vents as assigned on the Master Sanitation schedule.
  • Maintain the Cafeteria area clean, including wiping down tables, throwing out trash, sweeping/mopping floors, and cleaning microwave and sink areas.
  • Conduct a weekly cleaning of the Maintenance boiler room from top to bottom.
  • Conduct weekly cleaning of the Electrical room, including dusting and wiping down panels.
  • Conduct a weekly cleaning of the Maintenance Frigo room from top to bottom.
  • Conduct a weekly cleaning of the Factory Parts Warehouse from top to bottom.
  • Conduct daily cleaning of the Northwest and Northeast warehouses, including white lines and main driveways.
  • Conduct weekly cleaning of the roof walkway areas that pertain to production.
  • Conduct regular cleaning of the Blackstone Street parking lot using an assigned blower.
  • Conduct daily floor cleaning with Floor Scrubbers on product floor main walkways, drystock receiving area, and shipping drive/walkways.
  • Maintain factory hot water hoses, repair and replace leaks using correct tools.
  • Conduct regular perimeter walks with direct supervisor to ensure the outside of the factory is presentable.
  • Develop and maintain a professional attitude.
  • Communicate with team professionally and execute thorough pass downs daily.
  • Use effective interactive skills and communication to uphold cleaning standards.
  • Communicate all problems and concerns to appropriate personnel and document completed tasks accordingly.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and good housekeeping practices.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment including steel-toed shoes, face shield, hearing protection, etc.
  • Follow correct Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) policy and procedures where needed.
  • Report and follow up to ensure safety items are resolved within the factory.
  • Follow proper lifting techniques and ergonomics.
  • Perform safety checks on E-stops, pull-cords and eye wash stations.
  • Ensure that all guards are in place on equipment where required.
  • Use correct chemicals in proper applications.
  • Organize all chemicals, tools, etc. in designated locations.
  • Never compromise on food safety and comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Report quality concerns to direct Supervisor and Quality Assurance Department.
  • Take action(s) to avoid spills when using chemicals to avoid water pollution.
  • Dispose of empty containers appropriately when using liquid cleaning chemicals and granular type cleaners.
  • Mix chemicals only when specified to avoid unnecessary air pollution, chemical reactions and potential safety incidents.
  • Dispose of waste appropriately, after approval from Safety, Health and Environmental team.
  • Avoid allowing chemical residue to flow down to the floor drains and file reports when/if they do.
  • Contact Environmental Personnel or Facilities when there is a chemical spill to assist in the immediate cleanup of the spill.
  • Understand all environmental, safety, and hazard (HAZCOM) aspects of the position and follow standard procedures related to these as outlined on the SHE sheet.

Benefits

  • Pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $23.06 per hour.
