About The Position

The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for maintaining a hygienic environment within the facility, ensuring all equipment and areas are cleaned and sanitized according to established procedures. This role involves handling chemicals, operating equipment safely, monitoring sanitation processes, and supporting other departments as needed. The specialist will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies and performing various cleaning tasks throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • One to three-year(s) experience in the sanitation field
  • Understand company specific job-related applications of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
  • Understand job specific applications of GMPs
  • Understands and applies proper cleaning and sanitizing practices
  • Understand company Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures
  • Understand basic operational and preventive maintenance of dispensers
  • Must be able to work independently and follow instructions as given

Responsibilities

  • Maintains sanitation washroom in a hygienic condition, operates all equipment safely and according to established guidelines.
  • Handles and mixes cleaning and sanitizing chemicals as prescribed on manufacturer’s label.
  • Cleans and sanitizes greenhouse equipment in a manner that protects against contamination of tomatoes and tomato plants.
  • Monitors, collects and reports Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and all other HACCP pre-requisite programs as required.
  • Monitors equipment and supplies to properly support the completion of departmental tasks.
  • Cleans pack-house, cooler, and common area floors daily.
  • Performs scheduled cleaning of pack-house.
  • Removes broken glass in accordance with procedure.
  • Maintains cut glove inventory daily by sorting and stocking.
  • Cleans and drains dumpsters as needed.
  • Provide support as back-up housekeeper as needed.
  • Trains and supports departmental and non-departmental employees as needed.
  • Cross-train and assist in other areas of the department as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
  • Wears all necessary personal protective equipment required for each task.
