About The Position

The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for facilitating routine cleaning, training, and master sanitation tasks plantwide. The Sanitation Specialist will work with all operators (filling, downline, mixing, and extraction), production leads, and production supervisors to successfully complete various cleaning and maintenance tasks for different types of equipment and areas within the plant. This role involves training operators on cleaning procedures, auditing tools and chemicals, assisting with CIP (Clean in Place) processes, and ensuring all sanitation logs are accurately maintained. The position also requires adherence to safety and quality standards, including GMPs, HACCP, and SQF programs, and contributing to a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Understands and follows procedures for all allergens and how to prevent cross contamination.
Must adhere to all GMP's and Safety Procedures established by Management.
Ability to assess a situation and make quick, accurate decisions that will aid in production.
Must have good personal hygiene.
Must have basic math skills.
Mechanical and troubleshooting skills - learn to perform and be involved with routine maintenance.
Works with minimal amount of supervision.
Must be able to evaluate a situation and make a good decision.
Must be scissor lift certified.
Must be able to operate floor scrubber.
Knowledge of filler machines and downline equipment.
Knowledge of Raw, Mixing, Receiving, and Extraction.
Must be able to read and write in English.
Ability to use critical thinking to plan and problem solve.

Responsibilities

Facilitate routine cleaning, training, and master sanitation tasks plantwide.
Work with operators, production leads, and supervisors to complete filler CIP, assembly, and inspection for all lines.
Perform 36hr care and weekly care tasks.
Clean and inspect downline equipment, accumulators, cappers, case packers, Westrocks, and palletizers.
Perform daily/weekly Master Sanitation tasks for mixing rooms, extraction, alcoves, raw receiving, filling, and downline areas.
Train operators on proper cleaning and inspection of filler and downline equipment.
Lead shift huddles to organize cleaning tasks and oversee their timely completion.
Audit cleaning tools and chemicals, and train others in proper PPE and chemical usage.
Facilitate MSS (Master Sanitation Schedule) plantwide.
Assist and train on CIP process.
Assist and train operators on 36hr care and weekly care tasks, including part replacements, work order completion, peroxide draining, lubrication, and deep cleaning.
Prep fillers for CIP, including preparing chemicals, securing CIP pipes, and checking out kits.
Perform initial inspections on fillers.
Assist in Pre-CIP and Post-CIP inspections with QA, supervisor, and/or lead.
Perform titrations on chemicals and audit chemical tags.
Maintain and stock cleaning supplies.
Audit and maintain cleaning tools and brushes.
Train others on proper chemical and PPE usage.
Assist and train operators on downline equipment cleaning.
Perform downline equipment inspections and audits for cleanliness and CIL completion.
Coach operators on 5S to maintain clean and clutter-free workstations.
Ensure all logs (CIP, MSS, peroxide) are filled out completely and correctly.
Create OPLs (One Point Lessons) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for cleaning functions.
Operate a floor scrubber.
Ensure the sanitation room and Python are clean.
Perform weekly housekeeping plantwide.
Adhere to all plant safety rules and report near misses and accidents.
Participate in monthly safety inspections and report safety hazards.
Adhere to Quality Assurance System guidelines, SOPs, and SSOPs.
Comply with GMPs, HACCP, and SQF programs.
Identify critical control points and understand their functions.
Accurately prepare and maintain area documentation.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general housekeeping plantwide.
Ensure effective shift communication and teamwork.
Maintain effective communication with support groups and other departments.
Promote and contribute to team development.
Work among coworkers as a team.
Assist in coaching and training employees.
Continuously improve knowledge of production areas.
