Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of sanitation experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food facility sanitation practices and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of sanitary equipment design and food safety standards (HACCP, SQF, GMPs, PCQI, regulatory requirements).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels and external stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership ability within a cross-functional plant or operations team.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of engagement, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to lead by example, coach, and develop team members in a high-performance environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership, development, and continuous improvement of the site Sanitation Program.
  • Ensuring all food safety and quality requirements are met according to site food safety plan, Corporate Sanitation policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Documenting standard and best practices in sanitation across the plant.
  • Providing training on sanitation processes and programs.
  • Development and technical support for site employees.
  • Driving continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing the scheduling and coordination of all Master Sanitation Schedule activities in the facility including SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure) development and validation.
  • Working with Production Supervisors, Managers and hourly employees to maximize department efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams from Corporate Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Maintenance' representing the Sanitation department and providing technical input.
  • Overseeing environmental and pathogen monitoring programs, monitoring programs closely for compliance and developing actions for continuous improvement.
  • Primary responsibility for the pest control program, waste management program, utility chemicals, and supporting QA/QC on the environmental monitoring program at the site.
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory of facility operating supplies including sanitation chemicals, safety equipment, PPE, Janitorial supplies and cleaning equipment.
  • Tracking and monitoring agreed upon savings per contractual agreement with suppliers.
  • Keeping abreast of new technologies and practices in sanitation for its site.
  • Evaluating supplier performance, adherence to commitments per contract and addressing non-performance.
  • Performing cleaning and sanitation duties as needed.
