Sanitation Recycling Technician
About The Position
The Neil Jones Food Company is seeking a seasonal Sanitation Recycling Technician to perform sanitation and janitorial duties throughout the plant under the supervision of a Manager or Sanitation Lead. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Recycling Area at the TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. Key duties include collecting, sorting, and disposing of recyclable materials, loading/unloading recyclables, operating equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks, and maintaining recycling equipment. This is a seasonal position supporting the fresh pack season, typically from June to October.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and a California driver’s license.
- Forklift Certification required; one year of experience operating a forklift, preferably in an industrial manufacturing facility.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced food manufacturing facility.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
Responsibilities
- Collects, sorts and properly disposes of recyclable materials, including metals, wood, paper, plastic and other materials into appropriate containers.
- Loads and unloads recyclables on trucks, trailers and compactors or other equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operates forklifts pallet jacks, power lifts and other equipment to transport recyclables
- Cleans and organizes materials as necessary for recycling requirements.
- Monitors the mechanical condition of recycling equipment and performs equipment lubrication and housekeeping routines.
