About The Position

The Sanitation Program Manager plays a critical role in supporting the site's sanitation, food safety, and regulatory compliance programs across manufacturing operations, warehouse areas, and plant grounds. This position helps drive and sustain a strong food safety culture by ensuring sanitation programs, procedures, training, and compliance activities are effectively implemented and maintained. This role partners closely with Production, Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and external sanitation vendors to ensure the facility meets the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree (± 13 years)
  • Minimum 7 years
  • Experience in a regulated industry
  • Knowledge of GMPs, sanitation programs, and food safety systems.
  • Understanding of HACCP, Food Safety Preventive Controls (FSPC), and sanitation principles.
  • Experience with wet cleaning and dry cleaning methodologies.
  • Experience addressing environmental sanitation challenges involving drains, floors, walls, roofs, and processing equipment.
  • Experience supporting food manufacturing, nutrition, or regulated production environments.
  • Must be able to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain sanitation records, procedures, checklists, and signage to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and verify sanitation stations, equipment, supplies, and cleaning materials are properly maintained and available.
  • Support sanitation programs including chemical management, monthly titrations, equipment verification, fogging, and fumigation activities.
  • Investigate sanitation-related issues, participate in root cause analyses, document deviations, and support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to Food Safety Plan reviews and sanitation improvement projects, including CIP system enhancements and validation activities.
  • Deliver sanitation training and hands-on coaching for employees and new hires, covering cleaning procedures, chemical safety, PPE use, and sanitation best practices.
  • Partner with production teams to ensure cleaning activities are executed safely, consistently, and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, including chemical storage, SDS management, PPE usage, and change control processes.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional sanitation and food safety initiatives to strengthen site compliance, operational excellence, and food safety culture.
  • Accountable for meeting compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
