About The Position

Maintain safe and sanitary conditions throughout the store in accordance with company standards and health department regulations. Clean and maintain the exterior front entrance and sidewalks, follow safe food-handling procedures, and provide customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The role includes cleaning and maintaining floors, restrooms, walls, vents, ceilings, refrigerated cases, mats, rugs, and store sanitation supplies. It also involves moving equipment and displays to clean, replacing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, mixing cleansers and sanitizers safely, addressing snow and ice at the entrance, and performing minor equipment maintenance. The associate works cooperatively in a fast-paced environment, follows directions, handles conflict appropriately, and supports customers including minors, people with special needs, and older adults.

Requirements

Ability to read, retain, and comprehend a technical manual.
Ability to perform basic math, including addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division.
Reading and writing skills sufficient to complete forms.
Ability to work as a team member.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend.
Ability to use safety awareness and practices.
Good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service and communicate effectively with store associates.
Practice safe food-handling procedures.
Use and operate equipment to clean and maintain floors throughout the store.
Clean public restrooms, refill towel, tissue, and soap dispensers, and empty and dispose of trash throughout the store.
Clean walls, vents, and ceilings; exterminate rodents and insects; and dismantle, clean, and reassemble refrigerated cases.
Move equipment and non-stationary displays to facilitate cleaning.
Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
Clean and maintain cleaning and sanitation supplies in departments.
Shampoo and vacuum mats and rugs; follow after hand scrubber and trail mops.
Mix cleansers and sanitizers properly for effective and safe use.
Spread ice melt and shovel snow from the front entrance and sidewalks as needed.
Perform minor maintenance on equipment when needed.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, cooperatively, and without confrontation.
Act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
