About The Position

The Food Plant Sanitation Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the sanitation practices within the food processing facility to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our commitment to food safety and quality, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and interfacing with all teams at the facility to execute company objectives. The Sanitation Manager is responsible for supervising department operations and staff, as well as overseeing sanitation activities on and off the production floor. Knowledge of sanitation principles, extensive expertise in food manufacturing, and regular evening and weekend hours are required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of food manufacturing facility sanitation supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, including above average knowledge of MS Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated
  • Must be able to manage changing priorities associated with a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to multi-task

  • Knowledge of GFSI (SQF, BRC or ISO)

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic food processing environment.
  • Creating and updating sanitation schedules to ensure all areas are regularly cleaned.
  • Overseeing facility-wide janitorial services
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety and sanitation.
  • Staying informed about industry standards and changes in regulations and adjusting sanitation practices accordingly.
  • Leading and supervising a team of sanitation staff.
  • Providing training to sanitation personnel on proper cleaning techniques, chemical usage, and safety protocols.
  • Conducting regular inspections and audits to verify that sanitation standards are met.
  • Implementing corrective actions to address any deviations from cleanliness standards.
  • Managing the inventory and usage of sanitation chemicals.
  • Ensuring proper dilution and application of cleaning solutions to prevent contamination.
  • Maintaining accurate records of sanitation activities, inspections, and corrective actions taken.
  • Generating reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborating with other departments, such as production and quality control, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Participating in cross-functional teams to address food safety concerns.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement in sanitation practices.
  • Implementing new technologies or methodologies to enhance sanitation efficiency.
  • Developing and implementing emergency response plans for sanitation-related incidents.
  • Coordinating with other departments in case of contamination or sanitation emergencies.
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Reporting sanitation performance to management and recommending improvements.
  • Managing the budget for sanitation supplies, equipment, and personnel.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising on sanitation standards.
