About The Position

The Sandwich Artist reports to the Manager and is responsible for greeting and serving guests, preparing food as requested, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, and handling shift paperwork. They will also assist other employees during their shift in the overall operation, cleanliness, food preparation, and cash control.

Requirements

High school diploma (or equivalent) or relevant experience in the retail/convenience/food service industry
Outstanding customer service skills
Reliable transportation and ability to arrive at the store on time
Positive attitude and is a team player
Well organized and manages time well
Good people skills
Schedule must be flexible to include but not limited to working all shifts and all days of the week
May be asked to report to work early, stay late and/or work on weekends
Work week may exceed 40 hours per week during hard to staff times
Able to work alone, as well as in a group
Good personal hygiene
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions
Able to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/register
High integrity and high work ethics
Able to work any areas of the restaurant when needed
Takes responsibility and has high standards for safety, cleanliness, and food preparation
Position requires bending, standing, and walking the entire workday
Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

Greet each customer with a friendly smile and provide prompt, courteous service, completing transactions in a timely manner.
Abide by company dress code and local health regulations concerning personal hygiene and practices, including wearing a hairnet and apron while preparing and serving food.
Develop and maintain customer relationships by recognizing regular customers and remembering their preferences.
Provide customers with the best buying experience possible and maximize sales and profits during their shift.
Follow product recipes, production procedures, use proper ingredients, and maintain correct portions.
Consistently maintain food service cleanliness standards, including cleaning spills, keeping surfaces and display cases clean, restocking condiments and supplies, keeping the customer food prep/sitting area stocked and clean, and emptying trash receptacles.
Wash and sanitize all food service utensils, pots, and pans.
Maintain all food products at proper temperatures.
Prepare food neatly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and be able to explain them to guests.
Exhibit a cheerful and helpful manner when dealing with guests.
Greet every guest upon entry.
Be knowledgeable and able to describe and explain current promotions.
Check products in the sandwich prep service line area and restock items to ensure sufficient supply.
Keep the service line and food prep areas clean and sanitized.
Use the Point of Sale register system to accurately record guest orders.
Collect payment from guests and make proper change.
Up-sell additional add-on products or upgrades.
Understand and adhere to all quality standards, formulas, and procedures outlined in the Subway Operations manual and training programs.
Account for all forms of money (cash, credit, coupons) and bread during their shift.
Understand and adhere to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards while preparing food, serving food, and during clean-up.
Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards throughout their shift.
Perform and complete all required shift paperwork.
Provide prompt, courteous customer service and resolve customer issues.
Protect company inventory and assets at all times.
Report any safety incident or injury to the Manager.
Ability to open and close the food service operation if applicable or in case of an emergency.
Record on a daily basis bad merchandise/waste, including bread.
Complete all assigned reports and/or forms in a timely fashion with a high degree of accuracy.
Adhere to all company policies.
Assist the Manager in maintaining the store in compliance during their shift.
Report any unsafe, damaged, or non-functioning equipment on a timely basis.
Help bake additional bread or cookies following proper procedures.
Help prep for the next shift or day before leaving their shift.
Participate in any other related task or activity as assigned by management.
