About The Position

The Sander I works under close supervision of the Operations Supervisor and operates a belt sander to remove burs from forgings while maintaining minimum standard rates to meet daily metrics.

Requirements

High School Diploma (GED) is required.
Must be familiar with OSHA rules and regulations to create a safe working environment.
Must be willing to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Basic math skills are required.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to recognize and report safety hazards and understand the importance of machine safeguards.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience using a belt sander is a plus.

Responsibilities

Sand and remove burs from scissors forgings using the Burr King Sanders.
Visually inspect products to meet quality standards.
Inform supervision of any production or quality problems.
Maintain minimum standard rate to meet demand and create efficiencies to get products to customers.
Report daily count of production parts, scrap, and labor hours by completing required paperwork.
Replace sand paper, as needed.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area by complying with established 6S standards to promote a safe work environment.
Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.
