About The Position

The Casegoods Sander Trainee is an entry-level position responsible for learning and developing the skills necessary to properly sand and prepare wood furniture for the finishing process. Under the direction of experienced team members and supervisors, the trainee will learn proper sanding techniques, equipment operation, quality standards, and safe work practices. This position provides an opportunity to develop craftsmanship skills while contributing to the production of high-quality casegoods furniture.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous furniture or manufacturing experience.
  • Previous sanding, woodworking, or finishing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform proper sanding techniques for wood furniture and components.
  • Sand surfaces to remove rough areas, machine marks, glue residue, scratches, and other imperfections.
  • Learn to identify different wood species and understand how sanding techniques may vary by material.
  • Prepare furniture surfaces to meet specifications for staining, sealing, and finishing.
  • Inspect sanded surfaces for defects and make corrections as needed.
  • Learn how to properly use hand sanding tools and power sanding equipment.
  • Follow established sanding procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Learn to recognize when a defect requires additional repair or assistance from a supervisor.
  • Handle furniture and components carefully to prevent damage.
  • Maintain sanding tools and equipment in safe and working condition.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and required PPE guidelines.
  • Meet established production and quality expectations as skills develop.
  • Ask questions and seek feedback to continuously improve sanding techniques and product quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
