At Victaulic, we’re committed to constructing a better world for and with our people. We are hiring a Sandblaster at our West Jordan, UT locations. You’ll be responsible for preparing surfaces of pipes by removing rust, old paint, and other contaminants to ensure a smooth and clean surface for coating applications, as part of our coatings team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer literacy
• Physical stamina and strong attention to detail
• Solid understanding of safety protocols and PPE use
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

• 1-3 years of sandblasting experience
• Bilingual ability

Responsibilities

• Remove rust, scale, old coatings, and other contaminants from pipe surfaces, ensuring a uniform texture that's ready for coating
• Inspect pipe surfaces before and after sandblasting to confirm all contaminants are removed and the finish meets coating adhesion standards
• Apply protective coverings to threaded ends and other areas that shouldn't be blasted
• Operate sandblasting machines, compressors, and related equipment, adjusting settings based on pipe material and desired finish
• Manage dust and debris control, including proper disposal of used abrasive materials and keeping the work area clean
• Follow all safety protocols, including wearing required PPE and securing the work area from hazards like flying debris or dust inhalation
• Perform routine equipment maintenance — cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts as needed
• Set up and prepare the blasting area, including arranging pipes and setting up scaffolding or supports
• Keep accurate records of work completed, including pipe types blasted, duration, and any issues encountered
