About The Position

League Projects is a leading oilfield construction company that provides quality Pipeline Construction, Pipeline Integrity, Facility Construction and Module Construction to western Canada’s energy sector. This position ideally will be 17 days on with 4 days off, and will require extensive travel throughout Alberta. Preference will be given to those located in Alberta.

Requirements

  • Experience in sandblasting and industrial coating (pipeline or structural preferred)
  • Knowledge of coating systems and surface prep standards
  • Ability to read and follow coating specs and procedures
  • Valid safety tickets (H2S Alive, First Aid, CSTS, Confined Space, etc.)
  • Fit for duty and able to handle physically demanding work
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Coating certifications (e.g., NACE Level 1 or equivalent) An asset
  • Experience with pipeline coatings, or field joint coating
  • Experience working around oil & gas facilities or construction sites

Responsibilities

  • Perform abrasive blasting (sandblasting) on steel, pipe, structural components, and equipment
  • Prepare surfaces to required standards (e.g., SSPC-SP/NACE specs – near white, commercial, etc.)
  • Apply coatings including primers, epoxies, polyurethanes, and specialty coatings
  • Ensure proper surface profile, cleanliness, and environmental conditions prior to coating
  • Mix and apply coatings according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements
  • Inspect completed work for quality, thickness (DFT), adhesion, and defects
  • Operate and maintain blasting equipment (pots, hoses, nozzles, compressors)
  • Operate spray systems (airless, conventional, plural component if applicable)
  • Set up containment systems and ventilation when required
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment
  • Follow all site safety policies, hazard assessments, and safe work procedures
  • Use proper PPE (respirators, blast suits, gloves, eye protection, etc.)
  • Handle and dispose of blasting media and coating materials per environmental regulations
  • Ensure compliance with standards such as NACE International and SSPC
  • Measure and record surface profile (microns/mils)
  • Check ambient conditions (humidity, temperature, dew point) before and during coating
  • Perform dry film thickness (DFT) testing using gauges
  • Identify and correct coating defects (runs, sags, holidays, contamination)
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and coating logs
  • Assist with loading/unloading materials and site setup
  • Work with welders, pipefitters, and supervisors to meet schedule requirements
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Travel to job sites as required
  • Work in various conditions
