About The Position

Doncasters has an exciting opportunity for a Sandblast Operator to join their team in Groton, Connecticut. This role involves operating sandblasting equipment to process a wide variety of castings, ensuring they meet quality standards. The operator will load and unload parts, remove surface contaminants, and apply the required surface finish. The position also includes performing routine minor maintenance on equipment and identifying/reporting defects or issues. The operator will work independently, using daily plans and priorities to meet production goals.

Requirements

• High school and/or technical school completion
• 1-3 Years in a manufacturing environment
• Basic shop math skills
• Experience of working within set quality requirements ideally in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operates sandblasting equipment to process a wide variety of castings in accordance with established procedures and methods.
• Loads and unloads parts.
• Removes surface contaminants.
• Applies the required surface finish while maintaining production and quality standards.
• Performs routine minor maintenance, including nozzle changes and basic equipment upkeep.
• Identifies and reports defective materials, equipment issues, and unusual operating conditions to supervisors or leads.
• Works independently using daily shipping plans, WIP sheets, post-cast decision boards, and production priorities to support daily, weekly, and monthly shipping and manufacturing goals.
• Consistently maintains required production rates with acceptable quality standards.
